Attackers are now systematically targeting API keys and authentication tokens used to call AI models. Stolen tokens grant access to expensive inference, training data, and proprietary model weights—creating new insider-threat surfaces.
WHY IT MATTERS
Banks deploying frontier models via cloud APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) face token exfiltration risks. A compromised API key can drain budgets, leak proprietary data, and enable model extraction. Credential rotation and least-privilege access are now critical controls.
