JPMorgan Chase blocks third-party AI agents from direct account access

JPMorgan Chase will not allow outside AI assistants (like Meta's Muse) to directly access retail customer accounts. CEO Jamie Dimon signaled the bank is tightening controls around external AI integration to protect customer data and account security.

WHY IT MATTERS

Sets precedent for banking industry: expect other major banks to adopt similar guardrails, slowing AI automation in retail banking and forcing fintechs to redesign agent architectures for read-only or sandboxed access.
