London Stock Exchange warns up to 200 listed companies could migrate to US; capital flight risk
In a worst-case scenario analysis, the LSE warned that up to 200 companies could delist and relist on US exchanges (Nasdaq, NYSE) due to regulatory burden, lower trading volumes, or competitive disadvantage. The shift would drain London's position as a global financial hub.
WHY IT MATTERS
If material UK/EU corporates flee to US listings, London-based investment banks lose advisory fees and trading revenue. Regulators may be forced to relax listing rules or capital requirements, creating competitive pressure on others.
